About Younger People in Residential Aged Care (YPIRAC)
Younger People in Residential Aged Care (YPIRAC) is an initiative dedicated to addressing the complex and challenging issue of people with disability, particularly younger people, living in aged care facilities. The program understands that this situation isn’t ideal because aged care settings might not fully cater to the unique needs and aspirations of younger people with disability. YPIRAC is a collaborative effort involving government agencies, disability service providers, and advocacy groups, all working together to come up with creative and inclusive solutions. The aim is to empower these people by exploring alternatives to residential aged care, helping them find environments that better match their age and specific requirements. YPIRAC builds bridges between sectors and encourages cooperation, striving to comprehensively address this ‘wicked problem.’ Ultimately, it’s all about enhancing the quality of life and opportunities for younger people with disability in Australia.
