WHAT ARE NDIS CORE SUPPORTS?
NDIS takes a goals-based approach to providing core supports funding and services. This means that services available will vary depending on your individual situation and goals. NDIS Core Supports consists of four core supports funding categories that help you develop foundational life skills, such as daily activities and community participation.
The four NDIS core supports categories are:
- Assistance with daily life
- Accessing transport
- Accessing consumables
- Assistance with community participation

Assistance with daily life
Assistance with daily life is a core supports budget item designed to allow you to live as independently as possible – in your own home or out in the community. Support helps you to:
- Make decisions for the household
- Develop self-care skills, such as bathing
- Prepare meals
- Undertake domestic duties
Accessing transport
Accessing transport provide score support budget to cover transport costs associated with specialised schooling or education programs, reaching your place of employment, or participating in other community or recreational activities.
Accessing consumables
“Consumables” is core supports funding that covers the cost of everyday items and services related to your disability. These could include things such as:
- Interpreting and translation devices
- Continence items, such as nappies and pull-ups
- Home enteral nutrition
- Food and swallowing equipment, such as water syringes
Assistance with social and community participation
Assistance with social and community participation provides a core support budget to help the individual engage in social or recreational activities and become more involved in the local community. These could include:
- Art classes
- Sports coaching
- Vacation camps
- Community recreation activities

A first of its kind in Australia, the Nextt Indie platform gives us the tools that we need to capture your goals and measure your progress in meeting them.
It’s a platform that allows us to improve our effectiveness in the NDIS core supports that we provide, and know when (and if) we need to alter the level of service – such as the core support budget – that we provide.
